If you think a stay-at-home mother of two can’t make time for Country Rock, meet Selleena Ellsworth. She is the energetic and pitch-perfect lady who makes up one-half of the vocal duo leading Small Town Revolution.
Her love and appreciation for country music started when she was in seventh grade. “While all of my friends had Nirvana and ‘boy band’ posters all over their bedrooms, I had the ‘Reba Room,’” explains Selleena. Although she flirted with playing the Saxaphone for a while, she eventually focused her talents on singing. She continues, “My first vocal solo was in seventh grade chorus, and that was when I fell in love with singing.” Little did she know that some years later, she would be opening for national acts on big stages all over the area.
Like many of us, Selleena’s first exposure to music took the form of hearing what her parents had on the radio. “My mom blasted her 80's music and Elvis while cleaning, and Dad always sang in the car,” says Selleena. “All five siblings sing well naturally, but we’ve have never had lessons other than high school Chorus.”
On Small Town Revolution, Selleena says, “This band is so special to me. Everyone works as a team and has the same interests and goals. It has become a family from band members to the sound and light team. I am constantly surprised by the musical capabilities of each of my bandmates.”
When she’s not spending time with her family, Selleena loves teaching and performing line dancing. She’s also into cake decorating and has done birthday and wedding cakes. She also loves photography. She is very active when it comes to supporting other local bands. What’s next for Selleena? “I'm starting to dig into song writing, I’ve written a few songs, but they are not quite finished yet,” she says. Right now, she’s focused on making Small Town Revolution one of the best country acts in the area.
